The New Eagle Lake Park is finally set for its hugely anticipated Grand Opening. The 163-acre park located in Largo at 1800 Keene Road, will open on March 30th.
As all of you know, the park is still not open. The only news from Pinellas County Officals is old news. The delay in opening the park on time was because the Contractor who was building the park finished ahead of schedule. Any one with some construction experience knows that getting the job done early is very unusal. Either way the park, as far as I know will open in April of 2010.
This morning the St. Petersburg Times reported that Pinellas County can't afford to open Largo's Eagle Lake Park. Construction of Eagle Lake Park in Largo is nearly finished and ahead of schedule, however the county sats it doesn't have enough money to open and staff the park.
Pinellas County says that it will cost around $96,000 to open in the park. For now the 163-acre park will sit, unopened and fenced off from the Public.

It took some digging but we were able to find an Eagle Lake Park Development Plan.We can not verify if this is the most current version of the development plan but it looks like many of the items on the plan are showing up on the ground in the park as construction continues.

Lots of progress is happening right now at Largo's own Eagle Lake Park.
Below are some great new photos of the Dog Park. The grass is looking nice and green and I am sure all of our dogs with love playing in this great Dog Park. The park planners made a smart choice planning the Dog Park near the very front of the park entrance. This makes it easy for the folks coming to get some play time in with pooch, and it also separates the regular park visitor from this soon to be busy scene. Also there is a Covered Shelter near by and restrooms. Looking at the amount of parking they have put in I get the idea this is going to be one happening doggie destination!
